Challenge
This organisation had multi offices throughout the South West. CETSAT was first contacted when one of the organisation’s servers suffered a hardware failure. CETSAT were called in on the Monday to diagnose and, if possible, fix the problem. It transpired that the server had suffered an unrecoverable motherboard failure. The machine was outside of the manufacturer’s warranty, and it was decided that the most cost-effective and the quickest course of action was to replace the machine. The CETSAT engineers took the failed server away with them to enable data recovery.
Solution
On the Friday of that week a brand new Compaq ML-350 was installed. CETSAT had, in the time between Monday afternoon, when engineers arrived on site, and Friday afternoon, when installation was completed, accomplished the following:
- Identified the problem with the failed server
- Formulated and proposed a suitable response
- Specified and acquired a replacement leading brand server
- Software built and configured the new server, including domain preparation and the implementation of backup and logon scripting requested by the client
- Recovered, integrity checked and transferred data from the failed server
- Installed the new server on site
- Configured and joined all workstations to the domain
Throughout this process CETSAT kept the company informed as to progress and ensured that they had all the information needed to make the correct decisions to best serve their business.
Impressed with CETSAT’s quick, professional response, the organisation requested further meetings to discuss their IT strategy as a whole.
