Security Auditing
IT security strategy should be tightly aligned with the overall corporate IT strategy. When IT decisions are made, security should be a primary factor for consideration.
The person (or persons) within your organisation who is charged with managing and addressing security carries a significant and potentially critical responsibility. CETSAT can aid you in establishing a formalised structure for security processes by auditing and outlining any issues you need to be aware of. By applying standard security techniques we can analyse everything from risk assessment to the implementation of security policies, from human resource issues to the definition of security duties.
Internet security breaches are growing. Viruses are the major cause of the rising number of security breaches. With the advantage of high-speed Internet access, many organizations and companies put their websites and their confidential information at high risk when establishing a connection to the Internet that is not securely implemented. Nowadays some companies which recognise the seriousness of security adopt security systems such like firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and virus scanning proxy servers
There are three types of attackers that businesses should be aware of:
Cracker
The first is the amateur hacker also known as a “cracker”. They pride themselves on their web defacements, denial of service attacks and system breaches. They collect and rely on already made hacker tools and scripts to perform their system breaches. What they do not realise is that the victim companies unavailability and downtime lead to loss of revenue and a massive amount of auditing work that will be generated to ensure no other system has been affected. These crackers are usually nuisances. In addition, they may cost a company a large sum of money due to wasted time and confidence.
Professional Hacker
The second type of hacker is the professional hacker. These are individuals who are often paid to perform corporate espionage and the like to gain sensitive corporate information from companies for their competitors. These Hackers enjoy the challenge of the hack. Unlike the crackers, they do not flaunt their deeds, and are virtually unknown in the underground community.
Ex-Employee
The third type of hacker is the disgruntled employee or the disgruntled ex-employees, who, through their technical know how and internal access to the information systems of the corporate network, can wreak havoc on the information systems infrastructure. Deleting data via a time bomb or incorporating a virus are prime examples of the trouble such a person could cause.
We have a comprehensive range of solutions to protect you as far as possible from compromising your sensitive company data. CETSAT can assess the risk from internal and external attacks and chart access rights and vulnerabilities on your system. We will ensure your systems are compliant with business policies and security best practices.
